Beat The Streets WOD May 15
“Beat the Streets” Fundraiser to benefit Steve’s Club
Saturday, May 15, 2010
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Join us on May 15th, 2010, as CrossFit Affiliates across the country compete in a “Beat The Streets” Fundraiser WOD to support the Steve’s Club National Program, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for at-risk youth fitness. Teams of 4 will compete against other teams across the country. Every $1k raised will sponsor an at-risk athlete for an entire year. All donations go directly to the gyms that will train specific kids and teens in tough neighborhoods to get them off the streets and into CrossFit.

The WOD:
Team WOD competition - 4 athletes constitute a team (teams must be co-ed).
AMRAP 15 min:
- Station 1: Burpees
- Station 2: KB Swings
- Station 3: Pullups (chest to bar)
- Run 200m
All athletes begin at the same time and switch when the runner returns. When the runner comes back in, he/she goes to Station 1 (Burpees) and everyone goes to the next station (Burpees goes to KB Swings, KB Swings go to Pullups, Pullups go to the run).
Scoring: Count total # of reps (sum of Burpees, KB Swings, and Pullups), team with the
highest # wins.
Scaling: For KB swings, there will be a men’s weight (24kg) and a women’s weight (16kg).
Athletes may use KBs lighter than the prescribed weight but the reps will not count toward the team’s final score. If an athlete uses assistance bands for the pullups, those reps will not be counted toward the team’s final score.
Standards:
- KB swing: Bottom of the KB must face the ceiling, judges should be able to see the athlete’s ears.
- Burpees: Athlete must touch their chest to the floor on each rep, how they get down/up is up to them, and must clap overhead at the top as they jump. Feet must be off the ground during the clap, and judges should be able to see the athlete’s ears.
- Pullup (chest to bar): Athlete can do whatever type of pullup they like, as long as their chest (just below clavicle) touches the bar.
Transitions: Athletes can only switch stations once they get a high-five from their teammate (prevents athletes from leaving early). During the high-five, the athlete that has just finished at that station will give the arriving athlete the “count” of what they are up to. For example, Athlete A is on burpees, and when Athlete D comes in from the run, Athlete A has done 20 burpees and tells Athlete D “20″ and Athlete D begins counting with 21 (this is easier than trying to add it all up at the end).
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded by Steve’s Club National Program based on all competitors nation-wide.
1st place: 3 month supply of PaleoKits ($450 value)
2nd place: 2 month supply of PaleoKits ($300 Value)
3rd place: 1 month supply of PaleoKits ($150 Value)

anyone wants to start a team with me? (I’m hoping to get unassisted p/ups by then…)
OK gang - time to get moving on this if you really want it to happen.
No one has responded to Julia’s inquiry and I haven’t gotten any emails asking me to hold a spot for their team so I’m guessing y’all don’t want to do this?
Let’s have some feedback soon so I can decide whether it’s a go or not, thanks.
Ok Julia I will be on a team with you, although I will be on a cruise that week I will be back and hopefully be ready to perform : )
Is anyone interested in doing a “modified team”. I cannot do unassisted pull-ups yet, but I would like to participate. I don’t know if we would qualify to win anything, but it would be fun to compete with everyone.

Still waiting to see if more people would like to form a team…thanks Joe for joining…also, it might make sense to have a modified team as Lauren suggested…
Yes I am good with that So we just need one more : )
