If you’ve been to the 6:00 or 7:00 am CF class at CrossFit South Philly, then you’ve likely met Scott. He’s the (sometimes) quiet and always friendly guy that is happy to give a helping hand to anyone that needs it. Scott was an obvious choice for the Fearless Athletics Member of the Month!

What made you decide to join Fearless Athletics and how long have you been a member?

I’ve been working out and lifting weights for many years and was getting bored with those routines. I had been looking into Crossfit for almost a year before I decided to jump in. What attracted me to Crossfit was a lot of factors; the energy, olympic lifting, gymnastics and strength trainer. I choose Fearless because of the location and space, I found out afterwards that it’s full of great people and trainers. I’ve been at Fearless 3 years in April.

What are your fitness goals?

Be healthy and look good naked. Strength is also high on the list.

Talk to us about your athletic background. What did you do prior to training at Fearless Athletics
I’ve been weight training for many years. Right before starting CrossFit I was doing a fair amount of running and races, but now that doesn’t interest me as much.

What type of diet do you follow?

Paleo. I’m moderately strict about it. I’ve been stricter recently and I’m enjoying see my abs develop.

Favorite movements in the CrossFit program? Least favorite?

My favs are Oly lifts (Snatch), bodyweight stuff (HSPU, Muscle Up). My least favorites are Wall Balls and Rowing, where my size is a problem and we generally don’t scale those movements.

Tell us one thing that most people don’t know about you.
I’m 38. It surprises me every time I think about it. Also, I’m half Chinese.

How has being a member of Fearless Athletics impacted your life?

Fitness has become a very important part of my life and daily routine. Working out in a group environment has helped me push my training way further than I could have by myself. Along with that came the interest in eating for health and performance. Overall I think I’m a much healthier person because of Fearless.
