Metro Dash Aug. 21
Monkey is starting an informal team for Metro Dash on Sunday August 21, 2010.
Metro Dash competitors run city streets in search of scattered physical challenge points, power through intense interval workouts, and conquer “The Gauntlet,” an ‘extreme urban obstacle course’.
Registration is open now, and the event is capped at 200 participants.

We’ve already got a group signed up and we’re looking for more, this will be a CFSP domination!
Dude we are going to rock this Metro Dash!
MetroDash = PWNED!
What’s the team name? I’m down.
We didn’t set up a team, it was just easier that way, sign up as an individual.
Gotcha. I’m registered.
I’m registered too! we’re gonna rock this thing…
With my calf injury, there is a possibility I either may not make this run, or will only make a part of the run. Or I could be fine and do the whole damn thing. I’ll be taking it fairly easy for the next week to recover. I’m at about 90% mobility right now. Not bad, but I wouldn’t want to run or jump on it at the moment.
Was just checking the MetroDash guide.

The weights are mercifully light! (Except for the tractor tire, I’m sure that will be heavy.)
We should pick a point to meet at on Saturday.
To all Dashers this weekend we should all meet before hand so we can run in the same heat!
The Guide says that the starting point is at Independence National Historic Park (525 Market Street), though for some reason they mark the Arch St. side of the building on their map graphic. We are supposed to sign-in between 8am and 8:45am.
I say let’s all meet in front of the Market St. entrance to the Independence Visitor’s Center at 8:15am.
Hey folks so I put in all the locations on google maps for our metro dash this weekend and here is the course for it just remember to make sure everyone knows where they are going so none of us gets lost !

Joe, I like the route, but I think there are a few things that could be improved.
D->E: Running on Arch through Chinatown is a mess. We should cut up 8th to Race. (I would say Vine, but you hit so much cross-traffic and you can’t run through red lights.)
F->G: Run down Locust and cut through Washington Square.
G->H: We should be prepared to stay on 5th until Arch depending on the lights.
Let me know what you think.
Has anyone been on that length of Race St. lately? The Convention Center is undergoing a major expansion. Do we know the impact of the construction zone on sidewalk/street closures?
Other than that section, I second Jameson’s thinking.

Oh yeah no that was just to show where the different spots are, I am open to going the routes with less traffic
as far as I know, there is still tons of construction going on on Race st. I think I’m gonna ride through the points on my bike and see the best route options…basically, we want to avoid construction zones, busy chinatown, and other touristy spots…running through city hall would be a mess for instance…
Although I must say if we are lucky and get to start early we may miss alot of the people and car traffic. I ride by the area all the time so I see its not too bad in the morning. Having said that we definitely need to come up with a route to take so we can get as much of an advantage as possible
Good Luck Dashers, I wish I was joining you!
Just an idea, someone might want to scope it out first — there is an underground pedestrian passage from the 8th street Market line to Suburban Station at 16th and JFK. Might be useful for points E to F. And I work in that area, if at all possible avoid Arch and Race between 12th and Broad (only 1 sidewalk open on each), and the sidewalk on the east side of Broad btwn the Arch and Race is also closed.
Hmm, now that I think about it I may just do that tomorrow after work sometime
OK I hate to say it but I just tried a test run in my cushy shoes and the calf muscle is not quite ready for a 4.5 mile run. I’m afraid I’m going to have to bail, because I want to be in competitive form for Fight Gone Bad in Sept. I’ll try to find an exercise station where I can cheer ya’ll on!
Dashers - how did y’all do? Let’s see an update!
we all did great and had a lot of fun! CFSP was very well represented!
Joe finished at 58:00 min. Nicole finished at 1:06 and Lesha and I finished at 1:09, wish Lesha ahead by a few seconds. I can’t remember Jamieson’s time. We all beat the dash time and got the champion coin
I think I finished in 1:04:58. That race was a blast. I want to do it again.
Congratulations everybody! A great BIG shout out to all who participated!
Metro Champs!
