Jeff joined Fearless Athletics with a background in gymnastics—both as an athlete and a coach. Competing under the framework of the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic program as a child, Jeff developed a passion for the sport, which he transformed into multiple avenues including coaching, and, as a gymnastics research analyst for NBC Olympics at the 2008 Beijing Games. From 2003-2007, Jeff was the assistant coach of the Philadelphia Boys’ Gymnastics Team based out of Temple University. Here, he coached dozens of young athletes to state and regional championship competitions. Jeff discovered CrossFit in 2005 when searching for a new strength and conditioning program for his gymnasts. He attributes CrossFit to accelerating him to his own fitness goals, remaining active in a community of fitness-minded people, and as an avenue to continue his passion for coaching athletes of all ages and abilities.
Jeff came into Fearless Athletics quite intimidated by the barbell, but says practicing the Olympic lifts, squats, presses and deadlift have become his favorite aspects of training. No barbell? No problem. Jeff is still more than happy to perform handstand push-ups, ring and bar muscle ups, handstand walks, pistols and whatever else comes his way.
