New Space Update

Breaking news -
Our zoning variance has been approved! This means that we can go ahead with our move to the new space!
We still have a lot to do to plan the layout, purchase some new equipment, and make some upgrades to the facilities. If all goes well we will be in the new space by the end of September.
Keep an eye out for emails and blog posts to keep you informed about our plans and progress!
Thanks to everyone on Team CFSP for helping to make this happen!

  5. Catlyn says:

    I forsee a painting WOD.

  6. Julia R says:

this is awesome! can’t wait for the new box! let us know when we can start helping :)

  7. Jim Mee says:

This is awesome!!! It has been really awesome to watch the growth of the box from when it was just a few of us outside. Once we moved inside there were many changes, I am interested to see what type of changes happen when we move to the new box.

  8. Kristin J says:

This is great news guys! As always, let us know if extra assistance is required for anything. We’d all be more than happy to assist with equipment decisions and purchasing (peg boards?????) :)

  9. Chris D says:

Fantastic! I love the City of Philadelphia Zoning Board and its expedient process of zoning approvals!

On the other hand, I will miss the old box when we move. Poor old Boxy — back to life as a garage.

  10. Joe L says:

@ Kristin, I asked Eric about peg boards a few months ago, but i don’t think its going to happen

  11. Kristin J says:

@ Joe - I was just teasing Eric about it. We had that discussion a few weeks ago :)

  12. Erin says:

Yay! Definitely happy to help also!

And, can you get some of those scary looking prowlers???

  13. Dorlynn says:

Whoowee! Congratulations! This Crossfit adventure I’m on somehow continues to stay fresh and new. Count me in if you need an extra hand or two with the new place.

  14. Tim G says:

Whoa.. prowlers.. seriously? That’s like a double rainbow to me..

  15. Nicole says:

YAY! I’ll supervise the move and tell people what to do :) (jk-i’ll carry some of the bands over with my own two hands) :)

  16. Eric says:

Thanks for all the offers of help guys - we will finalize our plans for the space and then there will definitely be a painting WOD.

@Chris: I’m sure the new residents will let you visit ol’ “boxy”. It hasn’t been a garage in a long time and I somehow doubt it will become one again. Most recently, it was home to a band (with beer bottles and roaches in the bathroom) and before that it was used for a summer by a theatre company to stage a show. Before that was when it was an auto garage. From what I understand, it was also a drug front (which brought about it’s demise as a garage).

@Erin: Prowlers are at the really bottom of the list (even lower than the peg board!) - I’m not sure the residents of 11th st. would really appreciate them and I don’t really blame them.

  17. Chris D says:

Whatever the future may hold for the old box, I hope Wil, Eric and the other trainers come up with a fantastic team wod as a send off. I think it would be great to leave the old box as a team and make CFSP’s next step a strong one!

  18. Rob T says:

    Chris that’s a great idea!

As for Prowlers, if anyone has access to a metal shop (Nick V) and wanted to build a sled. I’m sure we could find some use for it on the destination WODs.

  19. Erin says:

I know ….(deep sigh)…. They just look like fun. In a very painful kind of way.

  20. Catlyn says:

I’d like to see who is hauling a prowler to a destination WOD. o_O

  21. Rob T says:

I think we could fit it into Stigs’ tank, no worries.

  22. Julia R says:

yay for team wod! yay for new box! I will miss the old box dearly :)

  23. Jim Mee says:

How about this for a team WOD?

    “Teams of 3″
    200m Run
Cleans(m-135lbs/f-95lbs) As many reps as possible while runner is doing 200m run
Burpees - as many reps as possible while runner is doing 200m run
    Runner tags lifter
    Lifter goes to Burpees
Burpees goes on a 200m run
    Max reps in 20 minutes

  24. Nick says:

I can probably draw up a collapse-able prowler design. I really need to stop thinking up excuses to buy a welder though.

  25. Erin says:

You can totally justify a welder…so useful! It’s getting into dangerous territory when you’re coming up with reasons to buy a plasma cutter.

  26. Wil says:

Nick, let us know when you get that welder! I have a squat rack with your name on it.

  27. Erin says:

PS: it can very easily be made to break down, the upright pipes sleeve in and are removable:

PPS I really want to think that the cheerleading squad is also training on the prowler
